An Annual Snowball Fight In Vancouver Has Been Postponed Due To...Snow. Has Canada Gone Soft On Us?
CBC - In what might go down in history as the ultimate West Coast self-troll, UBC's annual campus-wide snowball fight has been postponed because of snow.
Wednesday's 12:30 p.m. event has been pushed to Thursday after heavy snow in Metro Vancouver led to widespread commuter chaos and the cancellation of classes at the Point Grey campus.
The announcement on Facebook reads, "To make sure we can have the wildest snowball fight possible (and have everyone make it to campus safely) we will be moving the snowball fight to Thursday at 12:30! Enjoy your day off, get some extra target practice, and we'll see you all tomorrow!"
Ummmmm I'm sorrey but don't you goofy bastards up in Canada refer to your country as the Great White North? Whattsamatter? You maple syrup guzzling hosers afraid of a little snow? Rough look, to say the least.
Now I'll admit that having an annual snowball fight in the first place is one of the more Canadian things I have ever heard of. I picture it being the talk of the town at the local Tim Horton's for weeks ahead of time. You've got the local paper writing preview articles. You've got scouting reports. You've got a bunch of legends from snowball fights past coming back to give some inspirational speeches to both sides about how much this means to them.
But to postpone due to snow? I'm just worried that maybe Canada has lost their edge. Maybe they're getting a little soft on us. Back in the day, they would have either rode their moose or snowmobile to the snowball fight if there was a blizzard on the weather report. Worst case scenario, you just strap on the snowshoes and hike your ass to that brawl. But nowadays I guess they're too good for that. I guess they're driving little Honda Civics now that can't handle a few inches of snow. Would rather stay home in front of the fire to keep their wittle toesies warm. And then they wonder why no NHL team from Canada has won the Stanley Cup since 1993. You guys just don't want it enough anymore. No heart. Sad to see.
And on a very loosely related note, can I say that Bob's Burgers is an underrated show?
Not underrated in the sense that I don't think people know about it. But we definitely don't talk about it enough. Just a super easy show to throw on when you've got nothing else to do and a few hours later after a few intermittent naps, you're still perfectly content with watching more. That's really all you can ask for in a show, ya know?
